Keys

Every key stochos reads, and how to name keys when you bind them in config.toml.

Actions

key action in [keys]
Space Click click
Enter Double click double_click
m Triple click triple_click
Delete Right click right_click
Insert Middle click middle_click
↑ ↓ ← → Scroll scroll_up, scroll_down, scroll_left, scroll_right
/ Start a drag
Backspace Step back undo
Escape Close close

Modes and macros

key does in [keys]
b Bisect mode bisect
n The grid, from bisect mode normal
c Hint mode hint
v Free mode free_mode
` Start or stop recording a macro macro_record
@ Replay a macro by its key
Tab Find a macro, or save the picked cell as one macro_menu

/ and @ are the only keys you can’t rebind. Free mode’s keys are in [free].

An action’s key does that action first, so keep action keys out of the grid’s letters. The mode keys are the exception: by default b, c and v are sub-grid letters too, and they refine while the sub-grid is up.

Naming keys

config.toml
[keys]
middle_click = "end"
hint = "."

A letter, digit or symbol is the character itself: "a", ";", ".". Uppercase and shifted characters work too, like "A" and "!". Every other key has a name:

names keys
space, enter, escape, backspace, tab Space, Enter, Escape, Backspace and Tab.
insert, delete, home, end, page_up, page_down The keys above the arrows.
up, down, left, right The arrows.
f1 to f12 The function keys.
left_control, right_control, left_alt, right_alt Control and Alt on their own.
caps_lock, num_lock, scroll_lock The lock keys.
print_screen, pause, context_menu Print Screen, Pause and the menu key.
num_pad_0 to num_pad_9 The keypad’s digits.
num_pad_add, num_pad_subtract, num_pad_multiply, num_pad_divide, num_pad_decimal, num_pad_enter The keypad’s other keys.

On macOS

Apple keyboards have no Insert, Print Screen, Pause, Num Lock, Scroll Lock or menu key, and the keypad’s Enter is the same key as Enter. Control and Alt can’t be bound on their own. So on a Mac, give middle_click a key the keyboard has.

The key labelled delete is Backspace, and fn+delete is Delete.
