Borders, colour and themes

Every slide sits in a frame. Front matter picks the frame's border and colour, where the content sits inside it, and the theme the markdown is rendered with.

Borders

border names one of Lip Gloss’s border sets. The frame runs around the edge of the terminal.

  • rounded

  • normal

  • thick

  • double

  • block

  • outerHalfBlock

  • innerHalfBlock

  • hidden

hidden keeps the frame’s space but draws nothing, which suits title slides and full-bleed images.

Border colour

border_color takes a hex colour in quotes, "#E06C75", or an ANSI colour number, "63".

markdown
---
border: double
border_color: "#E06C75"
---

Placing content

layout places the slide’s content inside the frame. It takes a horizontal position and a vertical one, separated by a comma.

position values
horizontal left center right
vertical top center bottom

center, bottom sits the content at the bottom, centred. center alone centres it both ways.

Themes

theme picks the Glamour style for the slide’s markdown, and with it the colours for highlighted code. The built-in names are:

theme character
dark Pink and purple headings on your terminal’s background.
light The same scheme for light terminals.
dracula Dracula’s palette. The theme kyma’s default config uses.
tokyo-night Tokyo Night’s blues and violets.
pink Pink headings and accents.
ascii No colour, ASCII decoration only.
notty Plain output, as if there were no terminal.

Custom themes

Any other value is read as the path to a Glamour style written in JSON. Start from one of Glamour’s styles and change what you like.

markdown
---
theme: themes/talk.json
---

Code blocks with line highlighting take their colours from the theme’s code_block.chroma section.
